HOW DID IT START?

In his late teens, Danny began playing with Bobby Byrne's Orchestra on CBS network radio. Soon thereafter, he went "on the road" with such famous bands as Gene Krupa, Bob Crosby, Hal McIntire, Art Mooney and Freddy Martin. He also sang with Vincent Lopez, Blue Barron, and Sammy Kaye.

Before moving to Nashville in 1968, Davis spent several years as a record label executive at both MGM and RCA in New York...during which time he discovered Herman's Hermits, produced six consecutive #1 singles for Connie Francis and had his own vocal hit record on "The Object Of My Affection".

In Nashville, Danny worked with RCA label chief, Chet Atkins, who encouraged him to start The Nashville Brass. Danny Davis and the Nashville Brass were on their way! Their first album for RCA, "The Nashville Brass Play The Nashville Sound", netted them a Grammy for their version of "Kawliga". They went on to win six consecutive CMA (Country Music Association) awards as "Best Instrumental Group of the Year". Their popularity became a success story for all times.

Over the years their success has seen them paving the way for country entertainers on the strip in Las Vegas; being front runners in combining country music with symphony orchestras; and making believers out of folks who once thought they didn't like country music.

Davis and the Brass have appeared on countless network television shows, including such all-time favorites as the Red Skelton Show, Jackie Gleason, Ed Sullivan, Perry Como, Mike Douglas and Dinah Shore. They have toured Denmark, Sweden, Australia and Saudi Arabia; played for the inauguration of two Presidents (Nixon and Reagan); and entertained numerous State Governors. Using their own personal airliner they have blanketed the U.S. playing as many as 250 dates a year and also toured with "The Masters Festival of Music" including Chet Atkins, Boots Randolph and Floyd Crammer.

Danny and the Nashville Brass took a break from touring in 1996-1997 and teamed up with Boots Randolph to perform nightly at the Stardust Theatre in Nashville where they reside. Prior to that, they had performed several years of summer shows at The Danny Davis Theatre in Branson, Missouri.

Keeping up with current trends, Danny has decided to make his hard-to-find albums available on CD at this site. Please keep watch as new products are added regularly to nashvillebrass.com.
